The following are helpful links on renewable energy, including some of the public and private entities in Chile with whom we interact.

APEMEC (in Spanish)

The CHILEAN ASSOCIATION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED HYDROPOWER PLANTS (APEMEC) born in 2008 as a nonprofit association that seeks to realize projects and optimize hydropower generation plants in operation.

Chilean Ministry of Public Works (in Spanish)

MINISTRY OF PUBLIC WORKS (MOP) plans, designs and builds public infrastructure, as well as preserves and manages. Handles the administration of the entire country's water.

National Energy Commission (in Spanish)

The Chilean NATIONAL ENERGY COMMISSION, is responsible for developing and coordinating plans, policies and standards for the proper functioning and energy sector development, ensure compliance and advise the Government of Chile in all matters related to energy.

Chilean General Waters Directorate (in Spanish)

Institution under the Ministry of Public Works, the General Water Directorate performs all measurements, research and it is authorized to grant water use rights.

Ministry of the Environment Chile (in Spanish)

The Ministry of Environment of Chile, is the state body responsible for collaborating with the President in the design and implementation of policies, plans and programs on the environment, as well as the protection and conservation of biological diversity and renewable natural resources and water, promoting sustainable development, environmental integrity policy and legal regulation.

Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (in Spanish)

The Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) has as its mission to monitor proper operation of the electricity, gas and fuels, in terms of safety, quality and price.

Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving of Energy (in Spanish)

The Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE) is a public company under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade of the Spanish State through the General Secretariat of Energy. IDAE's mission is to promote energy efficiency and rational use of energy in Spain, as well as diversification of energy sources and promoting renewable energy.

International Hydropower Association (English)

The International Hydropower Association (IHA) discusses the role of hydropower in meeting the increasing demand of world's water and energy needs as a clean, renewable and sustainable source of energy. With members in over 80 countries, IHA is a non-governmental mutual association between organizations and individuals. Its membership extends to all those involved in the hydropower sector.

Hydro Research Foundation (English)

The HYDRO RESEARCH FOUNDATION (HRF) was founded in 1994 and became an independent nonprofit organization in 1996. The Foundation has two aims: to facilitate research, and to promote and disseminate the educational value of hydropower.


Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) is a nonprofit global discussion agora about renewable energy. It aims to foster the development of global policies for the expansion of renewable energy in developing countries and in industrialized countries aswell.
